I want to list the things I love with you
the humor of dogs
artificial light on rainy days
a perfect pear
the skin of your arms, legs + back
I want to lie down with you
speak to you through action
engage in deep silent discussion
sing in unison
say everything through passionate silence
I want to laugh with you
revel in the way your cheeks dimple
jest devious inappropriate things
crack-wise
delight in the humor of the world’s folly
these lists and things of and with you
please god take them all
all these unrequited, overtly strong, frivolous things
the root of my impulsive recklessness
compelling a desire to feel numb

For your daughter. On the edge of a cliff.
For you. Most of all. For you.
To death, Father. To death.
I love you. To death.
No affliction is so great
As the twisting tight
Of a bed without your lover.
Her slippers by the door
A strand of her hair resting on the empty pillow
The nest of blankets often put to the side
now wrap me in my solitude.

Fruitless efforts to incite motivation. There were gimmicks, rolls, murmurs, coughs, cackling, bitching and moaning. There were people watching people […]
